1)How the costs of the server are calculated by TMC as figured out in the paper? On what basis the cost estimates are taken?
2)How integration of code can be accomplished by adding the web services layer that exposes necessary information and functionality as mentioned in the paper?
\3)The JVM of Java is readily available to run the java applications in almost any kind of systems. Will the old windows systems contain CLR which is needed to run a .Net application?

1)In this paper author told that .NET is very better solution than J2EE in all the aspects such as security , performance , cost . If .NET is the best solution , then why do the J2EE exist , with very good reputation and competing with .net equally ? what qualities and features of J2EE made it to be one of the best solutions , though it has so many disadvantages compared to the .NET ?

2)Language independency for .NET , platform independent for J2EE are the key features for each of those technologies. Then how do the Language independency property of .NET is much more advantageous than platform independent property of J2EE ?

3) .NET and J2EE are most leading solutions for the web services , that too they are supported by big firms one is with Microsoft , another with java respectively .There are still lots of technologies exist , which has no support from big companies, still they are able to survive ,competing with those big firms. So there are some extra-ordinary specialty is there in them. What are those special features and logics present in them? and why does author simply ignored them ?

4)vb3/ 4 is not compatible with VB 5 , VB5 in not compatible with VB6 , VB6 is not compatible with VB.NET. Programmers needs to learn new technology every time the software changes, which makes many software products useless. Why does microsoft always keeps compatability issues between its predecessor and latest product , while sun microsystem makes compatibility ? How can Programmer can opt .net rather than J2EE when they have doubt regarding the existence of .NET in the future like its predecessor VB6 , VB5 ?

1.Now a day, the ideas of an individual are mostly open source ideas, which allow then to share their ideas openly with other people. These people will have different programming knowledge. How can .NET support such open source ideas as these ideas do not concentrate on how to develop an application in .NET? They wanted to develop an open source application that can be implemented in which ever platform they needed.
2.How can .NET support business transactions that stretch the limits of SOAP standard? Currently J2EE supports EBXML that supports these kinds of transactions? Does .NET support any standard or has a tool that supports these kinds of transactions?
3.How can .NET help in developing an old system which was already developed in different platform? Will migration result in new complications if so what are the complications and how can they be resolved using .NET?
4.How can we maintain a multi language system developed using .NET? Because developing, building, understanding and debugging such system is much difficult, we may need some experts help to understand the system.
5.How can we achieve scalability using .NET?

1) The author explained about Web Services with respect to two languages .Net and Java. What about “WSO2 Web Services Framework for PHP”? PHP is one of the best open source tools currently in the market to develop web based applications?
2) How security plays an important role in any Web Service developed in Java or .Net? How these both languages handle Security feature in terms of reliability and scalability?
3) Both .Net and Java has to parse the XML while working with Web Services. Will there be any turn around to solve the problem of XML parsing and using Web Services.?

1. For database integration with the applications, .Net uses ADO.Net frame work and uses datasets to access and modify the data instead of cursors and record sets. But, record sets uses joins and fetches the information from multiple tables at a time and makes the system use the resources well, requires few number of tables.
2. To use .Net we need CLR that need to be installed and not like JVM that is readily available in Java. Can’t that CLR be integrated with .Net and makes it easy to use .Net?
3. J2EE supports several languages such as Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, Windows, and Unix, but .Net does not. Can’t the structure of the .Net be changed by changing the data access models, IDE and framework such that it can work on multi platforms?
4. J2EE uses byte code where as .Net uses native-compiled code. But, byte code will be in the takes form of binary and takes very few sizes where as in native compiled code takes more space. Can the .Net be developed such that the compiled code won’t waste the memory and makes it best use of resources?
5. It is better to have more library functions that reduce the effort of the programmer to write the code. Can’t the .Net be made rich of libraries and makes it best over J2EE?

1. The author has not considered the factors which are important to justify that one technology is better than the other in a particular web service scenario. Also whether at all the weaker side is trying to score over the other has not been shown in this paper.

2. What can be the various features that some organizations can think about from .Net and J2EE before using any one of them and how these two technologies can provide solutions from performance, cost, complexity and time point of view?

3. The author has pointed out that security and workflow management are some issues which points towards the short comings of one technology but he has failed to provide any practical example regarding this fact.

1) Since most of the companies have various departments for developing web services and each department might have their own language and criteria for developing code. Since .Net provides Common Language Interface to support several languages. Common Language Runtime is not free to run but Java Virtual Machine is free of cost. Then how to solve this problem?
2) Since .net does not support various platforms, i.e., .Net is not portable across several platforms. How a programmer can rely on .Net when it is not portable over non windows platforms?
3) It is less coding is involve in .Net it is hard to make a good programmer in it. If someone wants to be mature in a particular language, how to achieve it in .Net?

Critical Questions:
1.It is conversed in the paper that on challenging some consequences for a particular project, the project can be changed to
.NET technology as it proffers significant advantages. To how far extent is .NET technology dependable in switching the project from another technology?
2.It is explained that some of the tools of .NET technology with ample options of languages and aspects permits the designers
to produce the documentation of the program. Does .NET technology help in documenting the program from various languages with required quality assurance?
3.Though .NET performance is much faster as compared to that of J2EE is accomplishment of optimal overall performance guaranteed?

Critical Questions
1) “Applications developed using .NET run only of Windows server, making it a Microsoft centric technology”. How can the author conclude that .NET is a better technology compared to J2EE, without considering this portability aspect.?
2) The author states that J2EE has no support for web services, but in reality technologies of J2EE 1.4 does extend support fordeveloping web services. How far is the authors conclusion correct? The author says that the cost of developing an application using .NET is much less than developing it using J2EE as .NET supports many languages?
3) How far is it correct to say that , just as .NET supports many languages , it would be very useful for the company to use whatever languages that are provided by the framework ,because even though .NET support various languages, companies might use only one language to develop an application.
